Black Fire Hydrants
You might have noticed the black fire hydrants in or around your area of Smith County. The reason for this change came in legislation in Austin, Texas on September 18th, 2007 during the 80th Legislature. The House and Senate passed H.B. 1717 to aid in the identification of non-functioning fire hydrants and assist fire fighters in responding to fires in a timely manner.

We have placed an application for membership on our website for anyone who might be interested in joining our team. Any persons interested should click on the RECRUITMENT link located on any page of our site. There, you will find a link to download and print the application. Once you have finished the application, please return it to the Membership Officer, or any active-duty member of the department.

All Department members need to contact Aaron to get setup for a new email address for the fire department. Any mail sent out to department members will be sent to the new department email, and in turn will forward to your regular (if you have one) email addres, such as yahoo, msn, hotmail, etc. If you do not have an outside email address, you can log into the department email by clicking on the link from the website.
